Gifted Dyslexic hopes to host South Africa's first ever five-day Davis Autism workshop in Johannesburg, called Nurturing the Seed of Change, at some point in 2016 (possibly in the Easter holidays). This workshop is created for parents, family members and support persons of those with ASD, as well as for individuals on the autistic spectrum who are looking for a self-development programme. The workshop features much of the content in Ron Davis' latest book, called Autism and the Seeds of Change. Participants are required to read the book before attending the workshop. The cost of the workshop is ZAR 12 000.- (including light lunch and break-time snacks) and can be paid by EFT. Payment instructions will be emailed to you after registration is completed. The workshop is presented by Lorna Timms, director of Davis Autism International, and trustee of the Dyslexia Foundation of New Zealand. She worked in adult education for 15 years before becoming a Davis Dyslexia Tutor and Presenter. Drawing on these personal and professional experiences, Lorna also presents workshops and seminars on dyslexia and dyslexia correction. Born in the north of England, Lorna and her English husband have lived in New Zealand for more than 20 years and have two New Zealand born children. The Venue The venue has not been folly confirmed, but we expect to run this workshop in Northsands Learning Academy, Fourways, Gauteng , see map below. Accommodation We will look into accommodation information and post it here as soon as we have good recommendations. In the meantime, if you click on [ View on Google maps ] you can look for accommodation/hotels nearby. We are happy to help with co-ordinating accommodation and airport transfers if necessary - it is generally better value to stay together in a self-catering flat. |
